At the Greater Jackson Quilt Celebration

Five guilds in central Mississippi hosted the Greater Jackson Quilt Celebration September 11-13, 2015 at the Mississippi Craft Center in Ridgeland. I was proud to have three entries there, and especially delighted to receive "Best Quilt By An Individual" award.

Pathways Round Robin, 64" x 70"

High Rise received a 3rd place ribbon.
Hi Rise, 39" x 37"
Croton Leaves was also in the show.

Croton Leaves, 20" x 20"

It was a beautiful show, and Pine Belt Quilters had lots of winning quilts there. We're already looking forward to our next Pine Belt Quilters show October 7-9, 2016.

Foster Kitten Update:  I have been taking care of four little orange tabbies for Southern Pines Animal Shelter. for several weeks. Tiger was adopted last weekend. He's the darker orange with the short tail, one week older than the K brothers. Kaiser, Ken, and Keller had their snip surgery this week and went to PetSmart today for someone to fall in love with.

I will miss the little furballs, but it will be nice to move my car back into the garage.

Congratulations on the awards.

I bet those gorgeous little fur balls won't remain unadopted for long.

CONGRATULATIONS! Really like the movement flow in your prize winner.

Thanks, Maggi and Ann,
The Pathways piece was the result of a round robin challenge in our guild. We were given a piece of fabric and an instruction (size of round to add) every two months, so we had to redesign every round, not knowing what was coming next. It was fun and challenging. I have described it more fully here if you want to read about it:

Kudos on your quilts and I liked the one without a ribbon, too. And what's cuter than a kitten? Four kittens!

I love the croton leaves quilt. The kittens...squeeeeee
Tarbaby may have allowed one dining experience but I'll bet he's concerned you might keep another one. The K brothers with all that buff colored cuteness will be snapped up. LeeAnna

Congratulations on the awards!

I LOVE reading about pets and people who rescue them. The kittens are SO cute!

Love the kitties. Now that I have been to your place I have a visual of the fur balls running around. Surprise to see your cat sharing. Guess they are getting used to adopted, temporary fuzzes running around.
Love your quilts and what fun to receive ribbons. Congratulations!

Thanks, Norma, LeeAnna, Ruth, and Vivian. My Croton Leaves quilt is one of my favorites, too. It has hand applique, machine and hand quilting; won a 2nd place ribbon in our Pine Belt show last fall, while High Rise won a 3rd. The Round Robin challenge (I called it a selfish round robin because we kept our own piece from start to finish) was fun to make, and having to redesign at each round was "challenging" but fun.
